io Architects LLP was established in 2007 by Hitoshi Maehara and Simon Hsu

in New York City. We are focused on the creative and rigorous research and design

of architectural, urban, landscape and interior environments.

io’s architectural practice draws on our collective experience in successful careers

at both the corporate and private practice levels. Our portfolio highlights our

familiarity with a diversity of projects, varying in scale, program and context, ranging

from winning architecture and masterplan competition entries in Milan and Beijing,

to distinguished museums in Japan and Luxembourg and award-winning restaurant

designs in New York City.

We believe in a multi-faceted approach to design; one that builds on a rich portfolio

of previous work but also looks to the future with an eye toward engaging

contemporary architectural discourse, generating original and engaging solutions

to architectural problems while always responding with consideration and attentiveness

to our clients’ concerns.
